Let the Artist Play

Creativity, what is it? How do we, let it out? At what moment is it best expressed?

There is something so intriguing about the word ‘creative.’ Something so potent about even just the word, as it asks to dance across your tongue.

Everyone possess, whether they admit it or not, some grab of creative potential. But most leave it at just that — potential. An artist is not me only one who takes on creative powers. Yet they are no one special. Someting special has not happened to them. Yet, the experience of being creative is special; the arist has only allowed for a power greater than their own, to come join them in their dance. In fact, all forms of human life are creative expressions.

Creativity can, does, and likes to happen to everyone. The way you (yes you Alex) leave bread crumbs on the table from that 5th bite of bread you said you weren’t going to have, is extremely creative. We live in a world abundant with creativity. There is infinite potential tor creativity.

So how, as ordinary people, can we learn to really tap in and use that energy?

You first hove to find your form. Building a business is one way a creative can play with his play-doh. Writing a poem, painting a picture, moving the body, baking cookies, running a marathon, learning a dance, are all expressions of creative form.

So how do we find our form? Well, ask yourself, what is it, you most like to do? As silly as it may be, and as ever awkward as you feel doing it, relish in the idea that the more you do it, the more creative it the expression will become. Hey look! You're getting good at that!

Once you you’ve found your form, the next step is to use our force to create form. Aka, allow yourself the time. Allow ourself to let you artist play. Let your artist have an hour in the morning, and invite her to be. Feed your artist, she’s hungry!

Bow to her and then let her play.

We often forget that, as adults we need time to play. I know, I know, we’re adults. But trust me, you have time, I promise. She's begging you to play. Practice with her. Show her a safe space, with your diligence and allow her the freedom to come out. Then watch, as the two of you actually have some fun. Let the two of you really create something together.

You have a creative calling, an inner artist, that just needs to be set free. So give her some space and let her do her thing. I give her a denomination of female, because she needs incubation, nurturing, and birthing; all feminine energies do. So if you want more creativity, you need to lean more into your feminine energy.

What would happen if you gave your creativity a name, a voice, a space to live? What if you truly listened to her, nurtured her, and let her guide you? What might she create if you surrendered, trusted, and let her lead the dance?
